Kidd Karrim's "PASAJE" - Explodes WorldWide!

Pasaje is a tapestry woven with the fibres of Funk, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music to unfold a powerful FUSION, celebrating our inherent need to dance.
"No matter the style, you groove!!! "
Kidd Karrim shows that she is fully in touch with her powers of musical expression, on the new Pasaje C.U.B.A. released album, KIDD KARRIM Latin Jazz PASAJE - From There To Here creating an astounding blend and delicate balance of the high-energy powerhouse and intensity of Latin-Jazz-Fusion, in combination with deep soulful smooth-groove funk, taking us on a musical journey of diversity of styles, with the one poignant constant, "the groove".

Kidd Karrim's PASAJE - From There To Here takes her audience on a journey from the dynamic, latin textures of Chucho Valdez's "Mambo Influenciado", Haakon Graf's "Que Paso" to Brazilian flavoured "O Morro Nao Tem Vez" and nu-jazz almost classical stylings of compositions like "Concepcion"; melting next to slow funk grooves of some memorable songs and many more. Her crew of amazing musicians create ripping grooves, and exciting, magnetic solos, weaving a tapestry with the fibres of Funk, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music to unfold a powerful FUSION, celebrating our inherent need to dance. PASAJE - FROM THERE TO HERE will ignite your desire to "Turn On The Groove - Get Your Body To Move", and keeps your interest with its fusion of Cuban timba, latin jazz, rhythmic pockets, floating Brazilian feels, and its locked- in deep, smooth funk that give a hypnotic release from its pulsing, dynamic Afro-Cuban numbers.

"Just wanted to say thanks for sending your CD, it sounds terrific! I had no idea you were this musically talented.
It's not a genre I normally listen to but I was so pleasantly surprised that it is now in my iTunes library encoded at lossless. I found the audio
production quality to be extremely good which is a requirement for me nowadays; healthy dynamic range = lifelike instruments. A lot of modern CDs sound like garbage (loudness war stuff) and I can't stand compressed (MP3) sound anymore.
Well done!
Mark, Vancouver, B.C.

Latin Jazz is my musical passion. I have talents as a PRODUCER, VIDEOGRAPHER, PHOTOGRAPHER, ARTIST, GRAPHICS DESIGNER, MUSIC EDUCATOR AND MUSICIAN and a down-to-earth, spiritual focus to the heavens good gal., but my project now is my PASSAGE IN TIME my cd project: PASAJE - "FROM THERE TO HERE" - As artist, musician, multimedia performance artist and long time music educator, I have worked with and taught from babies to adults for 25 years, as a choir conductor, kodaly instructor, music educator and producer of multimedia extravaganzas. I lived in Los Angeles for many years and was inspired by GARY CARDILE to play congas and also took up the vibraphone. Starting my musician's life as a conga player, I quickly evolved to timbales, drum set and percussion. In 1972 met and studied with Mongo Santamaria, who told me to pack my bags and go to Cuba. Finally, after music college, I moved back to Los Angeles to study at Dick Grove Music Workshops. Piano, composition, arranging, orchestration, improvisation, film scoring, the whole nine yards and played around Los Angeles at that time as a conga player. Mallets became my main focus.
I made connections with many great Cuban musician, including LOS MUNEQUITOS DE MATANZAS, CHUCHO VALDEZ, RICHARD EQUES, and CHANQUITO. To be acknowledged by and play with Chanquito was a great uplift to my progress. Through Jane Bunnett I met HILARIO DURAN, who has produced and played on two songs for me. The Cuba fever had hit Vancouver and Toronto, and the voice of Mongo still range in my head, ("You need to go to Cuba"). You guessed it...finally made my way to Havanna, three times, and met ROBERTO CONCEPCION, the amazing professor of mallet instruments and teacher of many, many Cuban musicians. I met my mentor...and his inspiration and instant belief in me, led me to express who I was and record my first cd.
PASAJE continues to bring together exciting musicians to create a rich fabric of sound influenced by Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Afro-American roots. PASSAGE IN TIME is this year's tapestry woven with the fibres of Funk, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music and unfolds a fusion of powerful, uplifting compositions that celebrate our inherent need to dance.

Their current ideas are driven by the genius of musicians like Juan Formell y Van Van, David Calzado y Charanga Habanera, Paulito F. G. , Gilraldo Barretto of Klimax, leaders in the "Nuevo Salsa" in Cuba. Their influences are diverse from Cuban, Brazilian, African and American Jazz artists. I've been a long time fan of Bobby Hutcherson, Cal Tjader and Tito Puente. The group features Vibraphonist Haneefa Karrim and includes Bass, Percussion and Congas, Timbales, Piano and horns.
